Rally for the Cure is more than just golf. We have many tennis events throughout the season where participants come out for a day of fun, time with friends, exercise – all while raising money for breast cancer awareness. Here are a couple of ideas that your tennis facility and event organizers can implement to ensure that your Rally event is fun and productive.

Pinks vs. Whites – Participants love getting dressed up for Rally events. Designate teams by players wearing pink or white clothing and be creative. Rally events are a great way to show off your latest style.

Pink Tennis Balls – Have fun and use pink tennis balls instead of yellow. Pink tennis balls can be ordered online and these are just the item needed to make your event special.

Staff Support – Ask your club staff to show their support by wearing pink shirts or pink ribbon pins. By doing this, a participant will know that something special is happening at the club from the moment she shows up and the excitement will carry right through the day.

Locker Room Decor – Post pink ribbons on the lockers of Rally participants. Place pink soaps and pink hand towels on sinks. The underlying theme is to think pink. Any way that you can transform your club by using pink for the event will increase the excitement and energy of the event.

Honorary First Serve – Invite a survivor to open the event by hitting the first serve. This is also the perfect opportunity for the survivor to explain her story and to encourage others that there is hope and to keep fighting every day to live a healthy, happy and productive life.

Decorate The Viewing Area – Set up a table and display goody bags and awareness materials … surround with balloons and serve pink lemonade, watermelon, pink m&ms for snacks.

Dress In Something Pink – Ask the pro to add some extra items in goody bags or for additional small prizes!  Award the best dressed.

Have A Fun Round Robin – In between changing partners, read a question from our breast cancer awareness quiz and answer sheet. Raffle off your grand prize choice at the end instead of to the round robin winner allowing all levels of play to get a chance to win prize!

Another format that works well is point play….again raffle off prize if there are different levels of play participating. Do you have any other ideas that could make a Rally for the Cure tennis event great? We would love to hear from you. Post a comment here or send us an email to info@rallyforthecure.com and we will share it with our entire community.
