Bellevue Country Club adds a Fun Twist to the Traditional Rally.

June 26, 2014

This was my 5th year as Rally Ambassador. I am a nine-year (Stage IIB) survivor. Our Rally tournament is now a Caddie Night in honor of our dear friend and fellow club member Mary McIntyre. Mary passed away March 17, 2012 after a valiant fight against Breast Cancer.  She was relentless in educating others about Breast Cancer and volunteering her time to this important cause.

The Mary Mac Memorial Caddie Night is a fun twist to the traditional Rally format where each player hires a caddie (mostly significant others, however some even used our pros!).  The money members would normally pay their caddie was donated back to the Rally event. Last year one of the club members had an idea to buy pink caddie bibs and put the Bellevue Logo on them.  We RAN with it!  A member donated the bibs and another member sponsored the artwork needed.  We even had the names on them like the pros. The pink caddie bibs are now a club favorite!

Other fundraising activities at our event included hole sponsors, a 50/50 raffle, mulligans and a long ball hitter on one of our par fives. To get our community involved, we placed pink piggy banks in a few of our local eateries for additional donations.

This year we had a gorgeous evening with a field of 34 players (yes 78 degrees on September 30th!) playing nine holes.  Many teams have coordinated their clothing with the Caddies in the spirit of breast cancer awareness.  As you looked out on our beautiful course it was a sea of pink against immaculate green fairways and greens. It was beautiful!

The Mary Mac Memorial Caddie Night has now become a favorite event at our club and I am sure will be for many years to come.  We raised over $6,000 for Susan G. Komen through our Rally event.  It is truly a total club collaborative event.
